Safe seas for the coming century

Understanding and responding to risks from marine environmental change this century will require a massive co-ordinated effort from scientists and decision makers alike. To orchestrate and guide part of this effort, the UK Marine Science Strategy was launched this year (2010). The Strategy sets out a framework for shaping, supporting, co-ordinating and enabling the delivery of world class marine science for the UK.  This session welcomes science and policy contributions related to the stewardship of our marine environment. We invite scientists and users of science concerning climate projections and potential impacts such as eutrophication, oligotrophication, water quality deterioration, suboxia, ocean acidification, extreme events and sea-level rise and how we respond to such changes. We also welcome presentations on communicating scientific uncertainty as a way of delivering science to decision makers.
